Sadly we had to find a new home for Ko-Ko and Kyran due to increasing tension within the group. Nurer and Boukje offered to take them in, I am convinced that they found their dream home, thanks ever so much for being prepared to take in two "older" Coons!

Colorado got his 3rd CAPIB today in Utrecht and is now International Premior. He was nominated for Best in Show! His mother Pukkel got her 2nd CAGCI, won the Best in Variety and was nominated for Best in Show in all :-)

Today I took Magic and Colorado to the SaintProCat show in Spijkenisse. Magic got a U1 in the 6 - 10 months group and Colorado got a U1 in the 3 - 6 months group. Furthermore, Colorado was nominated for Best In Show (at only 14 weeks of age!).

Wynona and Ice kittens were born today! 4 boys and 1 girl. Delivery went rather smoothly, despite the large birth weight of the kittens. The theme for the litter is worthwhile places in the SW of the USA (with a splash of colour).

At the kittenshow in Harmelen, organized by the RMC, Magic got U1 (group of 6) and was nominated for BIS!

Surprisingly Quanta gave birth to two more kittens this morning! 1 blue with white male (unfortunately died before being born) and a blue male. The blue male was 98 grams at birth but has a lot to make up for in comparison to his brothers!

Today Quanta gave birth to three beautiful males. Three of theme are cream (1 with white) and one is a blue with white.
The delivery went well and Quanta is getting used to being a mother very quickly.

Today we went to Emmeloord for the HCM/PKD echo by Natascha de Heer. Wynona was a little bit exited by it all ... For both scans the results were "no signs" or in other words Negative!!!

Received the test rsults for Quanta and Nona on the SMA gen today. Both girls tested n/n!

SMA (Spinal Muscular Dystrophy) is a disorder caused by death of spinal cord neurons that activate skeletal muscles of the trunk and limbs. Loss of neurons in the first few months of life leads to muscle weakness and atrophy that first becomes apparent at 3-4 months of age. Affected kittens develop an odd gait with a sway of the hindquarters. By 5-6 months of age they are too weak in the hindquarters to readily jump up on furniture and often have a clumsy landing when jumping down. 

SMA is inherited as a simple autosomal recessive trait. For a kitten to have the SMA disorder, it must receive the mutated copy (allele) of the disease gene from both parents, and male and female kittens are equally affected. The parents of affected kittens show no outward signs of disease, but they are obligate carriers, by definition.

Today Quanta got her second CACIB at the NRKV show in Purmerend and was also nominated for Best in Show. Since Wynona is now just over 10 months old she had to enter for the first time in the open class where she got her first CAC!
